June 1st to June 5th - Performance Camp 1 - Students meet Mon-Fri for 2 hours each day, with a performance during the weekend. Times for the camp will be determined by everyone’s availability but usually anywhere between 11am-8pm. Camp concert will be Sunday June 7th at The Encore
June 8th to June 12th 1pm-4pm - Proud Sounds Camp (LGBTQIA+) - Our new Summer Rock Camp for LGBTQIA+ youth and allies! We are honored to offer a safe and supportive space to build community, create, and empower through music and performance. We welcome any and all individuals ages 8-18 who identify as LGBTQIA+ or allies to sign up! Camp concert will be Saturday June 13th at TBA
June 15th to June 19th - Drum Week - Students meet Mon-Fri for 90 minutes each day to go over technique, tricks, tips, tuning, hand percussion, and more!
June 22nd to June 26th Times TBA - Girls Rock Camp - This camp is crafted for girls, young women, and non-binary folks ages 8 - 18! In one week, campers will form bands, write an original song and perform at a local music venue. Campers will work with PopShop's all female staff to explore the fun and challenges of making music with others. Camp concert will be Saturday June 27th at 123 Pleasant St
July 6th to July 10th - Tech Week - Audio Engineering Class
Groups will meet Mon-Fri for two hour classes to learn the basics of audio engineering. Students will learn the basics of signal flow, recording hardware/software, microphone types and applications, and then record an actual band's song! Times will be determined with availability
PopShopWV + Bookworm Effects: Build Your Own Pedal
Groups will meet Mon-Thurs 90 minute classes to learn how to read a pedal schematic, overview of parts/components, and learn to build their own pedal! Choice between Overdrive/Boost or Distortion/Fuzz, and new option - a battery powered mini amp! Can be tailored for Guitar or Bass. Times will be determined with availability
GuitarMod/BassMod Work Shop! This class cost and schedule will be determined by the amount of mods we’d be doing to the instrument. Here are some rough ideas of time frames (swapping out a pickguard/some hardware 2 days x 2 hrs; redoing all hardware/pickups/pickguard 4 days x 2 hrs; some mods can take longer or less, we’d figure out the estimate of time). July 20th to July 24th - Sketch & Release Camp - PopShop’s Sketch & Release Camp teaches students how to create their own music and comedy TV show. Your child, with their peers, will spend a week writing skits and songs, producing their own hit TV show. Imagine “Saturday Night Live” meets “The Monkees”, with your child as the star of the show.
